Zodwa Mbambo, Ph.D., is the Director of Programs - Health at The ELMA Philanthropies since October 2021, responsible for overseeing health investments in Southern Africa. Prior to this role, Zodwa served as a Program Officer at The ELMA Philanthropies from October 2019 to December 2020. Zodwa's background includes a position as a Research Fellow focused on TB drug development at Weill Cornell Medicine from July 2017 to September 2019 and as a Senior Researcher at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) from August 2007 to October 2016, where Zodwa led research on Nutrigenomics and gastrointestinal metabolism. Zodwa also worked as a Research Fellow at Embrapa in early 2010. Zodwa holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and has additional qualifications in Metabolomics and Management Accounting.
