We have an exciting short-term job opportunity as HR Intern! The HR Intern will gain hands-on experience in HR processes across the employee lifecycle and assist with onboarding during the District's peak hiring season with the opening and start of our summer facilities and programs. The ideal candidates are currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, are proactive, detail-oriented, innovative, and possess excellent communication skills with both internal and external customers.

  • Assist in the new hire onboarding process including sending new hire packets, ensuring packet completion, running state mandated background checks, and ensuring required orientation trainings are completed.
  • Track the progress of new hires throughout the hiring process, ensuring that all steps are completed in a timely manner.
  • Perform accurate data entry relating to newly hired employees, returning employees, and separated employees.
  • Regularly update the HR team and hiring supervisors on the status and progress of new hires and returning employees throughout the onboarding process.
  • Provide general administrative assistance to the HR team, including scanning documents and reports, filing, and organizing physical and digital records.
  • Attend job fairs to promote the District and recruit for open positions.
  • Assist in the planning of the District’s Spring job fair.
  • Assist in the implementation of the employee wellness program.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • High school graduate or equivalent, pursuing a degree in human resources, parks and recreation administration, business administration or a related field.

  • Good problem-solving, communication and organizational skills.

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Good internal and external customer service skills

  • Ability to work independently

WHEN YOU’LL WORK:

  • You'll work between 15-20 hours per week between January-June 2025 at the Administrative Office building.

  • The expected schedule consists of weekdays with daytime and/or afternoon hours, along with occasional evening or weekend hours depending on recruiting and onboarding needs.

WHAT YOU’LL GET:

  • The hourly rate for this position is $15.00/hour.

  • This position falls under Pay Grade E with a pay range of $14.00 - $19.00.
