Suraj Gulabani

Suraj Gulabani is the Head of Data Engineering at Elula. Prior to this, they were with Commonwealth Bank for nearly 4 years, where they were last serving as the Manager for Business Insights and Analytics.

In their role at Commonwealth Bank, Suraj was responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing forecast models for supply and demand that took into account multiple inputs such as campaign impacts, channel volume plans, historical trends, seasonality, productivity impacts, competency of staff, and other factors. Suraj provided forecasting outputs as the key input into the business’ scheduling and rostering function, employed robust scenario analyses and simulation techniques, and provided key business leaders detailed strategies for resource management to optimise sales and service objectives, including recommendations for recruitment, overtime management, leave management, capacity and utilisation opportunities and threats, and any other identified recommendations.

Suraj also worked collaboratively with Finance and Product to develop long-term (1-3 year) forecasts, liaised with the Workforce Planning community to identify opportunity for load-balancing, and was accountable for reviewing performance of forecasting and planning models to identify potential for continuous improvement and sophistication, including assessment of staff performance to plan. Suraj was proactive in coordinating collaboration between functional experts (Process Excellence, Product, Finance, Human Resources, Sales, IT and Marketing teams).
