Sphamandla Mhlongo

Sphamandla Mhlongo is a seasoned civil engineering professional with extensive experience in strategic management and operational oversight within the public sector. Currently serving as Deputy Director for Civil Engineering Services at Emalahleni Local Municipality since May 2015, Mhlongo manages various technical services, including water services, roads, and stormwater management, leading a team of over 80 employees. Previous roles include Manager for both Roads & Stormwater and Water & Sanitation, as well as positions at Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd and Govan Mbeki Municipality, where expertise in project management, civil engineering asset reliability, and maintenance of infrastructure was demonstrated. Mhlongo holds a DPhil in Engineering Management from the University of Johannesburg and multiple degrees in Civil Engineering from recognized institutions.
