Christopher Rhodes

Arise Research Fellow

Christopher Rhodes is an accomplished researcher and engineer with extensive experience in laboratory automation and optofluidics. As an ARISE Research Fellow at EMBL since August 2022, Christopher focuses on engineering advanced automation strategies enhanced by online image analysis and developing machine learning software for robotic microscopes. Previously, as VP of Instrumentation at Strateos, Christopher managed an R&D team to commercialize tissue analysis automation, inventing a tape-based method for histology. Prior roles include contributions at Glint Photonics, where Christopher designed optofluidic prototypes and supported commercialization efforts, and at Integrated Plasmonics Corporation, leading the development of microfluidics for clinical applications. Christopher's academic background includes a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley and an SB in Mechanical Engineering from MIT, along with recognition as an NSF Graduate Research Fellow.
