Gabriel Saruhashi has had an extensive work experience. In 2022, they became the Co-Founder and CEO of Emerge Career, a gov-tech company building an online learning platform for trades. In 2020, they co-founded Ameelio, a platform that democratizes access to prison communication and education technology. In 2019, they were a Strategic Advisor and Product Engineer at Impulso - gov, a task force of researchers, doctors, data scientists, and local authorities collaborating on a platform that empowers Brazilian municipalities to plan their responses against COVID-19. In 2018, they were a Software Engineer at Facebook, where they created and launched the Local Exploration bookmark for FBLite. In 2017, they were a Fellow at Fundação Estudar, a Machine Learning Research Assistant at Yale School of Medicine, Technical Team Lead at RAMP, a Lab Assistant at Digital Humanities Lab, and a Teaching Assistant at Yale School of Management. In 2019, they were a Product Manager at Zippi. In 2017, they co-founded ReConnect, a platform that connects refugees and their host communities. In 2014, they co-founded Letters for Learning, a non-profit organization connecting English learners from poor communities around the globe. In 2016, they were a Fellow at the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) Learners’ Voice Program.

Gabriel Saruhashi's education history includes a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Psychology from Yale University, which they completed in 2022. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from Escola Politécnica da USP in 2016. Gabriel also attended Colégio Bandeirantes from 2009 to 2015 and obtained a High School diploma. Additionally, they have experience as a Founder at Y Combinator in 2022 and a Product Manager at Y Combinator in 2019.
