John Taliaferro Thomas

John Taliaferro Thomas serves as the Rector at Emmanuel Episcopal Church since August 2019 and as the Interim Rector at Grace Episcopal Church since July 2018. Previous experience includes a sabbatical at Thomas Chestnut Grove Farm from September 2017 to July 2018, focused on reading, writing, studying, and travel. John held positions as Head of School at Frederica Academy from July 2015 to August 2017 and at St. Andrew's-Sewanee School from July 2008 to June 2015. Additionally, John served as Chaplain at St. Andrew's Episcopal School from November 1999 to June 2008 and as Associate for Family Ministry at St. Luke's Episcopal Church from October 1996 to October 1999. John began a career in ministry as Parish Priest and School Chaplain at Christ Church Parish from July 1993 to September 1999. Academic credentials include a BA in English from The University of the South (1984-1988) and a Master of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary (1990-1993).
