Dr. Andrea Caputo is a Senior Scientist with Empe Diagnostics in Sweden. Andrea has over 7 years of experience in the field of microbiology and combatting antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

Andrea started their career as a Research Assistant at Stockholm University, where they worked on projects related to the ecology and evolution of marine bacteria. Andrea then transitioned to a role as Project Assistant at the Marine Biological Association of the UK, where they worked on a project investigating the impact of ocean acidification on marine biodiversity.

In 2014, Dr. Caputo began working as a Technical Consultant for the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. In this role, they advised governments on the development of frameworks to combat AMR in the aquaculture industry. Andrea also coordinated multi-country/stakeholder projects focused on containing AMR through sustainable solutions.

In 2019, Dr. Caputo joined Empe Diagnostics as a Senior Research Scientist. In this role, they are responsible for combatting multidrug-resistant tuberculosis from the core.

Andrea Caputo received a PhD in Marine Ecology from Stockholm University, a Master of Science in Marine Biology and Biological Oceanography from Università Politecnica delle Marche, and a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Università Politecnica delle Marche.

Andrea Caputo reports to Spyridon Gkotzis, Principal Scientist, Sweden. They are on a team with Larry Hanqian Zhang - Senior Scientist, Sweden, Poonam Singh - Senior Scientist, Sweden, and Karthick Marimuthu - Research Scientist, Sweden.
