Norma Nowak has a wealth of experience in the field of genomics and bioinformatics. Norma currently serves as a Senior Advisor for Life Sciences at the University at Buffalo New York State Center of Excellence in Life Sciences and Bioinformatics. Prior to this, they held various roles at the University at Buffalo, including Genomics and Bioinformatics Core Facility Director, Professor, Executive Director of the NYS Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences, Director of Science and Technology, and Associate Professor. Additionally, Norma has also served as the Chief Scientific Officer and Founder of Empire Genomics. Norma began their career at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute, where they held the positions of Director of the Genomics Shared Resource and Cancer Research Scientist in Human Genetics. Norma's expertise and experience demonstrate their strong commitment to advancing genomics and bioinformatics in the field of life sciences.
Norma Nowak obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Canisius College between 1975 and 1979. Norma then pursued a Master of Science degree in Natural Sciences from the University at Buffalo from 1979 to 1980. Later, they completed their education at the University at Buffalo, earning a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Pathology/Experimental Pathology from 1980 to 1986.
