Managing Attorney, Disability Advocacy Program at Empire Justice Center

Emilia Sicilia is a seasoned attorney with extensive experience in disability advocacy and Social Security law. Currently serving as a Senior Attorney and Statewide Coordinator for the Disability Advocacy Program at Empire Justice Center since October 2019, Emilia Sicilia provides legal education, substantive training, and updates on Social Security regulations to advocates. Previously, Emilia Sicilia held the position of Director and Senior Attorney at the Urban Justice Center from 2006 to October 2019, representing claimants with psychiatric disabilities and overseeing impactful litigation against the Social Security Administration. Earlier roles include serving as a Staff Attorney at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP from 2003 to 2006 and volunteering as an attorney for organizations such as the Brennan Center for Justice and InMotion. Emilia Sicilia holds a JD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a BA in English from Wesleyan University.
