Robin Turton has a strong background in IT leadership and project management. Robin started their career as an Information Projects Manager at North Warwickshire PCT in 2003, where they developed the organization's information service and formulated the information strategy. Robin then became the IM&T Programme Manager, managing major projects across the Local Health Community.

In 2007, Turton joined Warwickshire ICT Services as a Senior Project Manager, leading the analysis, design, and implementation of information systems across multiple large organizations. Robin effectively managed project teams and ensured project plans were achieved.

After completing their education at Bablake School, Robin Turton briefly attended City College Coventry in 1990, where they obtained 1 A-Level in Psychology. Later, from 1991 to 1994, Robin Turton pursued a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) degree in English at Lancaster University. Following their undergraduate studies, Robin Turton enrolled at Coventry University from 1996 to 1999, earning a Master of Science (MSc) degree in IT for Management.
