Darren Wakefield

Darren Wakefield has extensive experience in chemistry and analytics, primarily in the field of macromolecule chemistry. Darren has held various director positions in different companies, including Empirico Inc. and NanoSUR. At Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (formerly Roche), they served as the Director of Macromolecule Chemistry and was responsible for supervising groups of chemists and managing multiple disciplines. Darren played a key role in improving the potency of RNA triggers through novel chemical modifications and led the development of delivery polymers and complex analytics. Prior to that, at Roche, they worked as a Senior Scientist III, leading a polymer synthesis group and optimizing new delivery platforms. Darren'swork led to significant improvements in therapeutic index and efficacy. Earlier in their career, at Mirus Bio LLC, they worked as a Senior Scientist and contributed to the development of polymer delivery platforms, small molecule PK modulators, and targeting modalities. Darren co-developed the DPC delivery platform, which played a significant role in Roche's acquisition of Mirus Bio.

Darren Wakefield attended Southwest Minnesota State University from 1992 to 1996, where they earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Chemistry. Prior to that, from 1995 to 1996, they briefly attended the University of Minnesota Duluth, focusing on Chemistry.
