Michelle Franc Ragsac, PhD has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and bioinformatics. Michelle Franc is currently working as a Senior Data Scientist at Empirico Inc. since March 2023. Prior to that, they were a Graduate Student Researcher at UC San Diego from January 2019 to December 2022, where they were pursuing their Ph.D. in the Emma Farley Lab. Michelle Franc also had two temporary roles at Agena Bioscience as a Research Associate and a Junior Lab Data Analyst in 2018 and 2017, respectively.

Before their time at Agena Bioscience, Michelle worked as an Instructional Apprentice at the University of California San Diego from April 2017 to June 2017. Michelle Franc was also a Bioinformatics Student Assistant in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine from September 2016 to May 2017. In addition, they served as a Writing Studio Mentor at The Sixth College CAT Writing Studio from September 2015 to September 2016.

Michelle also gained international research experience as a FrontierLab Summer Research Student at the Institute for Protein Research, Osaka University in the summer of 2016. During this time, they conducted statistical analyses on Protein Data Bank (PDB) metadata through the Protein Data Bank Japan (PDBj)'s Mine 2 query interface.

In their earlier career, Michelle worked as an Undergraduate Researcher at the Laboratory of Computational Genomics at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography from November 2014 to February 2016. Michelle Franc also volunteered as a Research Lab Volunteer at the Albert La Spada Laboratory at the Sanford Consortium for Regenerative Medicine from February 2014 to October 2014. Additionally, they had an internship as a Quality Control Intern at CS Bio Co. in 2012.

Michelle Franc Ragsac, PhD has a diverse education history. Michelle Franc began their educational journey at Central Middle School from 2005 to 2009. After completing their general studies there, they attended San Mateo High School from 2009 to 2013, where they obtained their High School Diploma.

Driven by their passion for bioengineering and bioinformatics, they enrolled at UC San Diego from 2013 to 2017. During this period, they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Bioengineering with a focus on Bioinformatics.

In 2017, Michelle briefly attended the University of California, but did not complete a degree. Michelle Franc pursued a field of study in Histoire de l'Art (History of Art) during their time there.

Continuing their educational journey, Michelle went back to UC San Diego and pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Bioinformatics and Systems Biology (BISB) from 2018 to 2025.

In addition to their formal education, Michelle obtained a certification in Academy Accreditation - Databricks Lakehouse Fundamentals from Databricks in May 2023.
