Ed Merola

Vice President, Infrastructure And Security at EmpiRx Health

Ed Merola, CISSP, has over 20 years of work experience in the field of infrastructure and security. Ed is currently the Vice President, Infrastructure and Security at EmpiRx Health, a role they have held since January 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Head of Infrastructure and Security at EmpiRx Health from September 2019 to January 2022.

Before joining EmpiRx Health, Ed worked at Managed Health Care Associates, Inc. as the Director of IT Operations from January 2016 to August 2019. In this role, they directed the strategy and execution of a $3M disaster recovery infrastructure build-out and implemented a highly available public cloud architecture to support revenue-generating application development. Ed also optimized daily I&O operations to improve infrastructure availability.

Ed's previous experience includes working at Cigna-QualCare, Inc. from April 1998 to January 2016. During their time there, they held various positions, including AVP, Infrastructure, Director of Network Operations, Manager of Network Operations, and Network Administrator. Ed was responsible for directing the build-out of infrastructure to support Cigna's next-generation healthcare services platform and implementing a scalable, fully redundant, multi-site private cloud infrastructure to support operational transformation and organizational growth.

Additionally, Ed worked at EverTech, Inc. as a Sr. Systems Engineer from 1993 to 1998. In this role, they were responsible for designing and implementing network and telephony solutions for SMBs, education, and government markets, as well as post-sales implementation, maintenance, and support.

Ed Merola, CISSP, completed their major in Computer and Communications Technology from Cittone Institute between 1991 and 1993. Ed later obtained the (ISC)2 Security CISSP certification from (ISC)² in September 2020.
