Jason Binder

CTO Hardware at Emporia

Jason Binder has over 10 years of experience in product development and engineering. In 2020, they began working as the Senior Vice President of Product Development for Emporia Energy, and previously held the role of Product Development Consultant at the same company. From 2013-2012, they were the Accessories Engineering Lead and Electrical Engineer at Square, where they were responsible for leading a team of 9 electrical engineers, designing NFC and power negotiation sub-systems, and investigating \u2018phantom touches\u2019 in capacitive touch subsystems. Jason also served as the technical lead for Square Reader for Contactless and Chip, where they architected Square\u2019s first EMVCo-compliant NFC payments technology. From 2012-2011, they were an Electrical Engineering Intern at Square and a Research Intern at the Laboratory of Sensory Neuroscience and Neuroengineering. From 2010-2010, they were a Research Assistant at Xia Nanotechnology Lab, where they designed and conducted reactions to establish palladium and copper coatings on silver nanocube dimers.

Jason Binder graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 2013.
