Michael Dowling has over 13 years of work experience in software engineering and development. Michael started their career in 2006 as a Queensland Support at Woolworths Limited, where they were responsible for fixing a wide range of PC, server, and network problems throughout the Queensland network, managing user profiles, and managing the backups of the Warehouse database. In 2007, they worked as a PHP Developer at Universal Telecom, adding new functionality to the ITAssets Database and coming up with a Disaster Recovery Plan. Michael then moved on to Spring Digital as a Developer and Senior Developer, where they built bespoke e-commerce websites to clients' specifications, took on larger and more complicated projects, and performed code reviews. In 2009, they joined Emu Design as a .NET Developer and Senior .NET Developer, where they were responsible for designing and developing large scale applications, along with mentoring and leading other .NET developers. In 2011, they joined Object Consulting as a Consultant and moved up the ranks to Lead Consultant. During their time at Object Consulting, they worked with SEEK as a Senior Consultant and with Herald Sun as a Consultant. In 2015 they joined iCareHealth Australia / Telstra Health as a Senior Developer. In 2017, they moved to Telstra Health as a Senior Developer, Software Engineering Team Lead, and Development Manager. Currently, they are working as a Staff Software Engineer at Empower since 2022.

Michael Dowling received a Bachelor degree in Information Technology and Software Engineering from Griffith University between 2003 and 2006. Michael also completed an I.T program in Software Engineering and Web Development from Griffith University during the same period. Michael attended St Laurences College prior to 2003. Additionally, they obtained a certification in Facilitation Skills for Managers and Leaders from LinkedIn in September 2020.
