Boris Hayete

Boris Hayete has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries. Boris'smost recent role was as the SVP and Head of Computational Sciences at EmpressTx since December 2019. Prior to that, they worked at GNS Healthcare, where they held multiple positions including Senior Vice President of Precision Medicine Research, Vice President of Precision Medicine, Senior Director, and Associate Director. At GNS Healthcare, they led teams focused on precision medicine applications, Bayesian causal modeling, and the analysis of clinical trial data.

Before joining GNS Healthcare, Boris worked at Boston University as a Postdoctoral fellow from April 2007 to August 2007. Boris also interned at Serono, where they designed a statistical approach for inferring Gene Ontology annotation of proteins, and worked as a Software Engineer at iPhrase Technologies, where they designed and developed code for the back-end of a natural language search engine.

In addition, Boris has experience as an independent consultant, providing outsourcing software services to consulting firms in the education technology sector. Boris also worked as a Software Engineer at Bankers Trust Company, focusing on financial middleware for the credits and collateral group. Boris has a strong background in machine learning, statistics, and biological data analysis throughout their various roles.

Boris Hayete has an extensive educational background in the field of computer science and bioinformatics. Boris completed their Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at The Johns Hopkins University from 1993 to 1997. Subsequently, they pursued further education at the same institution and obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science, specializing in Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing, from 1995 to 1997. Boris then continued their academic journey at Boston University, where they successfully obtained their PhD in Bioinformatics with a focus in Computational Biology and Modeling from 2002 to 2007.

In addition to their formal education, Boris also earned certifications in management-related subjects. In May 2016, they completed a Certificate of Completion in Managing Chaos: Tools to Set Priorities from the American Management Association. Moreover, in March 2016, they obtained a Certificate of Completion in Successfully Managing People, also from the American Management Association.
