Alex A. Andalis

Alex A. Andalis has over 20 years of experience in the field of intellectual property law and biotechnology. Alex A. is currently serving as the Vice President and Head of Intellectual Property at Encoded Therapeutics Inc. since 2019. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Counsel at Amgen from 2014 to 2019, where they gained expertise in legal matters related to the pharmaceutical industry. From 2010 to 2014, they served as a Corporate Counsel at DuPont Industrial Biosciences, focusing on legal and regulatory issues in the industrial biotechnology sector. Alex started their career as an Intellectual Property Attorney & Law Clerk at Morrison & Foerster LLP from 2008 to 2010, where they honed their skills in patent law. Alex A. also worked as a Patent Agent at Ropes & Gray LLP from 2005 to 2008. Before transitioning to the legal field, Alex obtained their Ph.D. in Biology and served as a Doctoral Research Scientist and Post-Doctoral Associate at Whitehead Institute & Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1997 to 2004. Overall, Alex brings a wealth of experience in intellectual property and biotechnology to their current role.

Alex A. Andalis has a strong educational background with degrees in Molecular Biology, Law, and Microbiology & Molecular Genetics. In 1991, Alex began their undergraduate studies at UCLA, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology & Molecular Genetics in 1995. Following this, Alex pursued further education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1997 to 2003, completing a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology. Finally, in 2006, they enrolled at Boston College Law School and obtained a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in Law in 2009.
