Nathan Moerke

Associate Director, Protein Biochemistry And Assay Development - Translational Sciences at Encoded Therapeutics

Nathan Moerke has extensive work experience in the field of biochemistry and assay development. Nathan is currently working as an Associate Director of Protein Biochemistry and Assay Development at Encoded Therapeutics Inc. starting from July 2022. Prior to that, they worked at STEMCELL Technologies as a Scientist/Product Manager from January 2020 to June 2022.

Before joining STEMCELL Technologies, Nathan worked at Denali Therapeutics as a Senior Scientist and Lab Leader from January 2017 to December 2019. In this role, they led a team of scientists and developed various biochemical and cell-based assays to support therapeutic discovery programs. Nathan also served as a project team lead for an immuno-neurology target and successfully initiated an antibody discovery campaign. Additionally, they developed biomarker and PK/PD immunoassays to support therapeutic program progression.

Prior to Denali Therapeutics, Nathan worked at Theranos as a Senior Scientist from September 2014 to January 2017. In this role, they led a team of scientists in developing immunoassays for the detection of small molecule and protein analytes. Nathan also implemented immunoassays on the Tecan robotics platform and developed R software for statistical analysis and visualization of assay data.

Earlier in their career, Nathan worked at Harvard Medical School as a Senior Cancer Biology Assay Developer/Research Associate from March 2007 to July 2014. Here, they provided guidance on assay development, screening data analysis, hit selection, and screening cascade design for HTS campaigns. Nathan also developed high-content assays to study cancer cell responses to therapeutic agents and led the development of a protein microarray platform for profiling cancer cell signaling biomarkers.

Overall, Nathan Moerke possesses a strong background in biochemistry and assay development, with expertise in protein biochemistry, cell-based assays, immunoassay development, and statistical analysis of assay data.

Nathan Moerke has a Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology from Harvard University. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Minnesota.
