Senior Scientist I at Encoded Therapeutics

Peter Neumann has a diverse work experience in the field of scientific research and development. Peter started their career at Stanford University School of Medicine as a Postdoctoral Researcher, where they focused on understanding learning and memory and brain function/physiology. During their time there, they utilized various techniques and transgenic mouse models to study cognition. Peter'sresearch was published and focused on how sub-networks of neurons modulate activity and connectivity in cognition.

After their time at Stanford, Peter joined Theravance Biopharma US, Inc. as a Research Scientist. However, this role was short-term and lasted from September 2021 to November 2021.

Currently, Peter is working at Encoded Therapeutics Inc. as a Scientist. Peter started as a Scientist II in December 2021 and was subsequently promoted to Senior Scientist I in March 2023. In their current role, they are responsible for advancing novel gene therapies for early-life neurological genetic disorders. This includes designing and executing in vivo studies, managing a small research team, developing and evaluating assays, and collaborating with colleagues to make data-driven decisions.

Peter Neumann has an extensive education history in the field of neuroscience. Peter completed their Bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of Southern California from 2005 to 2009. Subsequently, they pursued a PhD program in neuroscience at Washington State University from 2010 to 2011. Peter then engaged in collaborative projects at the Max Planck Society, European Neuroscience Institute from 2011 to 2012. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh from 2012 to 2015.
