Rajashree Deshpande

Scientist II at Encoded Therapeutics

Rajashree Deshpande has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and companies. Starting in 2002, they worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Michigan, where they focused on characterizing the active site of the DNA 3'-phosphatase enzyme. During this time, they gained experience in designing DNA substrates for activity assays and DNA binding assays. In 2006, they joined The University of Texas at Austin as a Research Associate, where they worked on projects involving DNA repair and checkpoint functions. Rajashree developed the "Gentle lysis and size selection" -ChIP (GLASS-ChIP) technique and used NGS technology for sequencing immuno-precipitated DNA. Rajashree also conducted data analysis using tools available on the Galaxy project website. In 2016, they became an HHMI Research Specialist at the same institution, uncovering interesting interactions between DNA double-strand break repair proteins. Rajashree showed that DNA-PKcs promotes cooperation between MRN and CtIP to remove the DNA-PK complex from DNA ends. In 2021, Rajashree joined Encoded Therapeutics Inc. as a Scientist I, and later transitioned to the role of Scientist II in 2023. The summary demonstrates Rajashree Deshpande's expertise in DNA research, including DNA repair mechanisms and enzyme characterization.

Rajashree Deshpande obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Microbiology, General from Savitribai Phule Pune University in 1990. Rajashree then pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Microbiology, General from the same university, completing it in 1992. Continuing their education, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Microbiology, General from Savitribai Phule Pune University in 2002.

In addition to their formal education, Rajashree Deshpande has also obtained several certifications. Rajashree completed the course "PH125.1x: Data Science: R Basics" offered by HarvardX - An Online Learning Initiative by Harvard University through edX in August 2020. Rajashree also completed the "Introduction to Programming Using Python" certification course provided by Microsoft in June 2020. Although the completion months and years are not provided for the remaining certifications, Rajashree Deshpande has also obtained certifications in "PH125.6x: Data Science: Wrangling" from HarvardX - An Online Learning Initiative by Harvard University through edX, as well as in "py4e101x: Programming for Everybody (Getting Started with Python)" and "py4e102x: Python Data Structures" from the University of Michigan.
