Senior Scientist II at Encoded Therapeutics

Ronald Chen has a diverse work experience in the biotechnology and medical research field. Ronald is currently working as a Senior Scientist II at Encoded Therapeutics Inc. since 2022. Prior to that, they were a Senior Scientist I at Maze Therapeutics from 2018 to 2022, where they also held the role of Scientist II from 2018 to 2021. From 2015 to 2018, Ronald worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Genentech. Ronald obtained their Ph.D. in Cancer Biology from Stanford University School of Medicine, where they also served as the Coordinator of Stanford Institutes of Medicine Summer Research Program from 2008 to 2009. Ronald's earlier experience includes working as a Biology Associate at Syapse Inc. from 2010 to 2012 and as a Research Technician at Washington University School of Medicine from 2003 to 2007. Ronald also founded the Saint Louis Area Undergraduate Research Symposium in 2005.

Ronald Chen completed their education from 1998 to 2002 at Taipei American School, where they did not obtain any degree or specify a field of study. Following this, they attended Washington University in St. Louis from 2002 to 2007 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors in Chemistry and a concentration in Biochemistry. Subsequently, they pursued a Ph.D. degree in Cancer Biology from Stanford University from 2007 to 2013.

Additionally, Ronald Chen obtained several certifications, such as Advanced Spanish from the Spanish Academy Antigüeña, Guatemala in October 2014, Northern Thai Massage from the Old Medicine Hospital, Chiangmai, Thailand in July 2014, Open Water SCUBA from PADI in July 2014, Climbing Wall Instructor (CWI) from the Professional Climbing Instructors Association (PCIA) in May 2013, Wilderness First Aid (WFA) from Stanford Wilderness Medicine in March 2013, and CPR from the American Heart Association | American Stroke Association in March 2013.
