About the Role: As a Nephrology-Urology & Dialysis Technician, you will play a key role in client communication, procedure preparation, and assisting with dialysis treatments. You’ll also help maintain equipment, ensure inventory is stocked, and support the Nephrology-Urology team to enhance workflow efficiency. No prior dialysis experience is required—comprehensive training and mentorship are provided

Essential Functions:

  • Work independently under the guidance of the Nephrology specialist
  • Prepare and start Nephrology appointments, help create and execute patient care plans including sending discharge notes, performing client call-backs, submitting prescription orders to pharmacies, and assisting in scheduling follow up appointments.
  • Generate and review estimates with clients
  • Know what is entailed in all Nephrology –Urology procedures and how to set up for them
  • Proficiency in technical skills including venipuncture, catheter placement, blood pressure measurement, etc.
  • Manage anesthetic emergencies during procedures
  • Crosstrain and fill in for client coordinator’s role when needed
  • Be able to field phone calls from clients, schedule Nephrology appointments, and refill prescriptions
  • Communication with clients, technicians, and staff doctors regarding hospitalized patients
  • Generate treatment sheets for hospitalized patients following the orders of the Nephrologist-Urologist
  • Maintain the sanitation and stocking of the Dialysis, Nephrology, and operating room suites
  • Proper routine care and maintenance of all Dialysis and Nephrology equipment
  • Perform dialysis and extracorporeal therapy treatments on patients
  • Attend all Nephrology department meetings
  • Opportunities may exist to participate with on-call for dialysis and extracorporeal therapies
  • Assist with research projects including monitoring and data collection
  • Follow all policies and procedures as outlined in the FHA Employment Manual

Qualifications:

  • Veterinary Technician certification/credentialing (CVT, LVT, RVT, VTS) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a veterinary setting, preferably in internal medicine.
  • Hemodialysis experience a plus!
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary medicine, diagnostics, and treatments.
  • Enthusiasm for veterinary medicine and commitment to delivering excellent patient and client care
  • Excellent communication skills-- both verbal and written
  • Ability to multi-task in a stressful environment
  • Ability to speak and hear by phone or in person
  • Ability to read, write and type English
  • Ability to work as a team player
  • Ability to use and learn computers
  • Ability to master large volumes of detailed information
