Jeff Benintendi

EVP & COO, Commercial Lines at Encova Insurance

Jeff Benintendi is executive vice president, workers’ compensation and strategic accounts of Encova. He has 31 years of experience in the insurance industry. After graduating from Colorado State University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in business administration, concentration in finance, Jeff started his career in claims, ultimately operating as regional claims manager for Orion Capital’s excess and surplus lines division, handling commercial auto, trucking, general liability, medical malpractice and umbrella business.

Jeff was promoted to director of finance and accounting at Orion and served in that capacity for three years. Jeff led the accounting and finance division through integration efforts resulting from two mergers/acquisitions. Jeff then made the jump to workers’ compensation in 2001 joining Pinnacol Assurance. He served as associate vice president with accountability for four profit centers and operated as head of underwriting for Pinnacol’s $600 million book of workers’ compensation business.

In 2007, Jeff joined BrickStreet Insurance and served as executive vice president, chief underwriting officer and chief operating officer. He led the reorganization of its operations to a customer-centric profit center through 2007-2008, regional expansion beginning in 2009, created two regional offices in Naperville and Charlotte, and delivered an underwriting profit on the workers’ compensation book 11 of the 12 years with the organization.

At Encova, he has expanded the workers’ compensation appetite into the small and middle market space across the footprint, deploying a desktop solution for our agents that integrates predictive analytics, artificial intelligence and core underwriting discipline. The desktop solution enables agents to obtain a workers’ compensation quote in less than 60 seconds.
