Luigi Ponti

Research Scientist at ENEA

Luigi Ponti is a Research Scientist at ENEA since December 2012, specializing in Mediterranean agro-ecosystem analysis and integrated modeling for sustainable agriculture. In addition to this role, Luigi serves as the Research Director for the TEBAKA EU-funded project and co-leads the MED-GOLD Horizon 2020 project, focusing on climate-related challenges in Mediterranean food systems. Luigi has been a Research Fellow at the Center for the Analysis of Sustainable Agricultural Systems (CASAS) since January 2007, providing ecosystem-level analyses to support developing economies. Current roles at the European Food Safety Authority include contributing to quantitative pest risk assessments and panel expert consultations. Luigi is also a certified expert Python developer and has held various positions in prestigious institutions, including the FAO and University of California, Berkeley, where Luigi earned a PhD in Agricultural Entomology from Università degli Studi di Perugia.
