Josh Strege has a diverse work experience, starting with their role as a Research Engineer at the Energy & Environmental Research Center from 2000 to 2013. In this position, they oversaw multi-year, multi-million-dollar projects in the energy and fuel industries. Josh led cross-functional teams, wrote proposals, secured funding, and coordinated projects involving multiple funding sources.
In 2013, Josh joined Cirrus Aircraft as a Project Manager, responsible for overseeing the rapid on-demand production of composite parts for an outside customer while adhering to lean manufacturing principles. Josh managed budgets, schedules, procurement, and invoicing.
At Cirrus Aircraft, they took on roles of increasing responsibility, including Engineer Lead from 2016 to 2018 and Senior Engineer from 2018 to 2019. As Engineer Lead, they implemented changes to improve material and labor efficiencies, reduce scrap, and ensure compliance with customer requirements and FAA regulations. Josh developed tracking systems to gather and report data more accurately and quickly from the production floor. As a Senior Engineer, they led a team responsible for waste reduction, uptime maximization, and product defect minimization. Josh implemented solutions to monitor technician performance, automate tasks, and schedule preventative maintenance.
Josh Strege currently holds the position of Assistant Director for Energy Systems at the Energy & Environmental Research Center, starting in May 2021.
Josh Strege earned their Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of North Dakota. In addition to their degree, they obtained two certifications: Aspen Certified User in Aspen Plus® from Aspen Technology in April 2020 and Aspen HYSYS® Certification from Aspen Technology in February 2020.
