Earlier in their career, Ivy worked at the Office of Naval Research as a Program Manager for Human Social Cultural and Behavioral Sciences from 2008 to 2014. Ivy V. created science and technology programs for the US Marine Corps and US Special Forces communities, leading projects that delivered technology to the warfighter.

Ivy V. also held positions at the Office of Naval Research Global as an AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellow, where they implemented multinational partnerships and conducted strategic reviews.

Additionally, Ivy has experience as a Miryazan Science and Technology Policy Fellow at the National Academy of Sciences, Board on Science Education, and as a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Neurology at Georgetown University.
