Engineered Plastics, LLC
Engineered Plastics began operations in 1978. EP is a custom manufacturer working in a variety of industries. Our diverse portfolio is healthy for our customers & team. We are essentially three distinct businesses, operating in separate facilities across NW PA: Molding, Assembly, & Recycling. Our separate sites provide customers with an added layer of protection. Molding takes place at our Lake City, PA site, which is ISO-9001 certified. We have 27 machines ranging from 55-850 tons, including a 200-ton, 2-shot press. The production area is climate-controlled to aid efficiencies & product consistency. We are an industrial molder with a lean mindset. Our on-site tool room provides preventive maintenance & minor changes. We partner with local shops for more involved engineering changes. Both domestic & oversea mold construction are options. Assembly is located on Erie's Eastside. Decorating capabilities include silkscreen, pad print, heat-transfer / labeling, & hot stamp. We use a number of assembly techniques on our customers' products: ultrasonic weld, heat stake, mechanical, gluing, etc. EP does kitting: shrink tunnel & bag sealing. Our bagger line is well-suited to fasteners & similar. The line uses optics and learning capabilities for each of its five vibratory feeder bowls. The end result is accurately packaged product for our customers. We are excited to announce the purchase of our first collaborative robot! Our Recycling Center is in West Erie, where we work with post-industrial materials. As a 1-stop shop, we are not limited to thermoplastics (e.g., cardboard). We toll for some customers: accept purge, scrap parts, runners, & on; grind to flake or pelletize; then, return these results to become their process inputs once more. For some, we simply buy their waste as others are in the market for that converted flake or pellet. Customers range from compounders to converters. When it comes to pelletizing, we focus on Polyolefins.
