Cassi Stanco has an extensive work history in library and information science roles. Cassi started their career as a Curatorial Intern at Sagamore Hill National Historic Site in 2011, where they cataloged artifacts and prepared them for storage. From 2012 to 2013, they worked as an Intern at the Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum, supporting the Executive Director and managing collection objects.
In 2013, Cassi became a Research Intern at the Naval History and Heritage Command, where they researched and wrote histories of naval ships for the Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships (DANFS) project. Cassi also served as an Administrator and Project Coordinator at Crystalizations Systems Inc., a manufacturer of museum storage systems.
Cassi's experience in library and information services continued when they became an Archives and Preservation Intern at the Berthold Lewis Ullman Classics Library at the University of North Carolina from 2014 to 2015. Cassi created and revised a website for the library using WordPress. During the same period, they also worked as a Consultant to the Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) Library at Duke University's Developing World Healthcare Technologies Laboratory. Cassi implemented and maintained a digital library and monitored website data and growth.
Starting in 2015, Cassi joined the School of Information and Library Science IT Services as a Lab Assistant, where they resolved computer and technical issues for patrons and performed website updates. Cassi also took on the role of Digital Librarian and Project Lead at Engineering World Health, working on the development of the Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) Digital Library.
Cassi's most recent position is at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where they have held multiple roles. From 2016 to 2018, they worked as a Systems Librarian, administering library systems and supporting technical services processes. Cassi then became a Systems Librarian & Interlibrary Loan Coordinator from 2018 to 2022, overseeing the coordination of interlibrary loan processes and leading the development of a Ship to Home service in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, Cassi serves as a Global Services Librarian, managing a dynamic and collaborative Access Services team and improving customer service and staff efficiency in library Access Services. Cassi also contributes to all aspects of customized library service delivery across the SCAD community.
Cassi Stanco earned a Master's degree in Information Science from the UNC School of Information and Library Science, which they attended from 2014 to 2016. Prior to that, they pursued their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History and Italian Studies at Dickinson College from 2009 to 2013. Additionally, in 2011, they also studied History at the University of East Anglia for a brief period.
