Fred Holden

Fred Holden is a Research Officer at James Cook University, focusing on carbon sequestration through enhanced weathering of basalt as part of the Leverhulme Centre for Climate Change Mitigation project. Additionally, Fred serves as a Volunteer Environmental Protection Mentor with Engineers Without Borders Australia, providing guidance on environmental considerations for engineering projects. Previous roles include Graduate Environmental Scientist at Douglas Partners Pty Ltd, Environmental Manager and Ranger at Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, and professional placement with the Department of Resources in Queensland, where contributions were made to soil mapping. Fred has also held positions as a PASS Leader and Research Worker at James Cook University. Future academic pursuits include a PhD in Environmental Science, following a Bachelor of Science with Honours and a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Practice from the same institution. Fred also holds a Certificate in Permaculture Design.
