James Pyemont has had a diverse work experience, starting with their role as a Professional Cricketer at Sussex Cricket in 1997 and later playing for Derbyshire County Cricket Club until 2002. From 2003 to 2007, they worked as a Freelance Sports Journalist. In 2012, they took a career break for childcare. In 2014, they worked briefly as an Anti-Corruption Consultant at Transparency International UK. From 2014 to 2017, they worked for the Metropolitan Police, progressively moving up from Detective / Police Constable to Detective Sergeant and eventually becoming a Detective Inspector. In 2017, they joined the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) as an Anti-Corruption Manager. James then progressed to roles including Head of Integrity and currently serves as the Head of Pro Game Investigations and Education.

James Pyemont completed their education at the University of Cambridge, where they earned a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) in Classics from 2000 to 2001. Prior to that, they had also obtained a BA Hons (Trinity Hall) degree in Classics from the same university from 1997 to 2000. James Pyemont's earlier education took place at Tonbridge School from 1991 to 1996, although no specific degree or field of study information is available for this period.
