Axel Berger

Axel Berger is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in digital transformation and sustainability. Currently serving as Chief Sustainability Officer at Franz Haniel & Cie. GmbH since May 2020, Axel also holds a position as an Executive Board Member at enkelfähig e.V. since November 2023. Prior to these roles, Axel was the CEO of thyssenkrupp Materials IoT GmbH and the Head of Digital Transformation at thyssenkrupp Materials Services, where responsibilities included the development of digital strategies and eCommerce initiatives. With a strong foundation in marketing, corporate development, and operations from previous roles at Saint-Gobain, including Director Marketing & Strategic Sales and business management positions, Axel brings a comprehensive skill set in driving business growth through innovative solutions. Axel holds a Dipl.-Ing. in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Munich and an MBA from Western Sydney University.
