Nikolay Gigov

Nikolay Gigov has a diverse work experience spanning various companies and roles. Nikolay started their career in 2007 as a Systems Engineer at Solace Systems, where they implemented software components for the Solace Systems 3230 Content-Aware Routing System. In 2008, they worked as a Multimedia Software Engineer at Magnum Semiconductor, followed by roles at AMD as a Graphics Driver Developer and Linux Software Developer in 2009.

In 2011, Gigov joined the Institute for Quantum Computing, University of Waterloo, where they conducted research in the field of quantum information. Nikolay developed protocols and algorithms for satellite-based quantum key distribution (QKD) and completed a thesis on quantum key distribution data post-processing.

From 2013 to 2016, Gigov worked as a Senior Software Development Engineer at Blue Coat Systems. In 2016, they joined Huawei as a Senior Engineer in Cloud Security, and later became a Principal Engineer in 2020.

Most recently, Gigov joined Enlighted in 2020 and has held the positions of Principal Research Engineer, Head of Research, and currently serves as the Head of Research and Architecture.

Nikolay Gigov holds a Master of Applied Science (MASc) in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a specialization in Quantum Information from the University of Waterloo. Nikolay also has a BMath degree in Computer Science with a minor in Physics from the same university.
