Camilo Mejia is a visionary who is using cutting-edge technology to transform the oil and gas (O&G) industry. Mejia is highly respected in the energy industry for his pioneering research and results in the field for upstream companies. His experience as a petroleum engineer and business executive enabled him to implement his state-of-the-art platform that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to increase production, sustainability and profits for the O&G industry.
Mejia founded Enovate Upstream with a unique business concept: create the first hybrid O&G technology company. As CEO, he brought together oil and gas executives to build the cutting-edge ADA™ AI platform. It is the first of its kind in the industry to operate using AI at all components upstream. Mejia and his team are giving O&G customers exact scientific data to increase both productivity and profits, without bowing to outside market forces.
Before striking out on his own, Mejia spent 13 years at Weatherford International, one of the largest multinational oilfield service companies. He managed global projects by building successful teams which developed innovative solutions, capital efficiency and production enhancement for exploration and production (E&P) operators. He specialized in operations, geosciences as well as research and development. He worked hand-in-hand with E&P companies in the United States, Latin America, the Middle East, Russia and Europe. Previously, he worked as an implementation engineer in Bogota for the ROSEN Group, an energy technology company.
Mejia has published over 30 papers on his many technological solutions for oil and gas. His research has been published by major trade associations including the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts (SPWLA) and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. He was awarded the “Best Technical Paper” in 2012 and again in 2015 by the SPWLA. Also, Mejia has written articles on groundbreaking technology inventions for industry news outlets including World Oil, Oilfield Technologies and First Break. He is a frequent panelist and presenter at trade association conferences around the world. A native of Colombia, Mejia received his B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from the Universidad de América.
