Amarilys Acosta has a diverse work experience beginning in 2010. Amarilys started as a volunteer at the Mayaguez 2010 - Central American and Caribbean Games, followed by a position as a Calendar Booth Clerk at Borders. In 2011, they began writing and book blogging for Amy's Book Den. In 2016, they were an Administrative Assistant at Bioimágenes Médicas. In 2018, they worked as a Freelance Audio QC Proofer for Penguin Random House. In 2019, they were a Freelance Editor for Amarilys Fiction Editing and a Freelance Authenticity Reader for Macmillan. Currently, they are an Art Department Assistant + Publicity Graphic Designer, Production Editor, and Acquisitions Editor at Entangled Publishing.

Amarilys Acosta obtained a Certificate from UC San Diego Extended Studies in Copyediting in 2018. Amarilys also earned a Master of Fine Arts in Writing Popular Fiction from Seton Hill University between 2012 and 2014. Prior to that, Amarilys obtained a Bachelor of Arts and Science in English Literature from the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez between 2005 and 2011. In 2009, they also attended the University of Cambridge's Literature Summer School, where they studied English Literature.
