Taylor Shishido

Consultant at Enterey Life Sciences Consulting

Taylor Shishido has a diverse work experience in the field of life sciences consulting and research. They started as an Undergraduate Researcher at the Kewalo Marine Lab, conducting molecular biology experiments and investigating the communication of metabolic states between bacteria and animal hosts. They also worked as an Undergraduate Researcher in Computational Biology at the Washington University School of Medicine, where they characterized the phylogenetic diversity of a virus family and developed a workflow for identifying viral genomes from DNA sequencing data. At Ionis Pharmaceuticals, they served as a Functional Genomics Intern, customizing a pipeline for processing genomic sequencing data and identifying RNA sequence variants.

Continuing their research career, Shishido worked as a Senior Research Support Associate at MIT Center for Biomedical Innovation, evaluating supervised machine learning methods for predicting viral contaminant presence in cell cultures. They also built an analysis pipeline still in use at the lab for detecting and quantifying viruses from sequencing data. At Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, they worked as a Data Analyst, building a database for discovering novel insights from clinical trial data and demonstrating the improved efficiency of a NoSQL (graph) database over traditional SQL.

Most recently, Shishido worked as a Data Science Intern at Merck, leading a team in creating a data repository for critical information on experimental therapies used in clinical trials. They also developed graph visualizations to highlight content reuse across regulatory documents and defined the data model for displaying structured content and content reuse.

Currently, Shishido is employed as a Consultant at Enterey Life Sciences Consulting.

Taylor Shishido began their education at Punahou School from 2012 to 2016. They then attended Washington University in St. Louis from 2016 to 2020, where the degree obtained is unspecified but focused on Computational Biology. Most recently, from 2020 to 2021, Taylor attended Harvard Medical School, earning a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Informatics.
