Joao G. Magalhaes has a diverse work experience in the field of immunology research and drug discovery. Joao is currently working at Enterome as the Head of Immunology research, a position they have held since July 2022. Prior to this role, they served as the Science Lead for Immuno-Oncology at Enterome from February 2019 to July 2022. Before joining Enterome, Magalhaes worked at Horizon Discovery as a Principal Scientist in Immuno-Oncology, where they led a team and worked on assay and screening projects from January 2017 to October 2017. Joao also briefly served as the Team Leader in Immuno-Oncology at Horizon Discovery from May 2017 to October 2017.
Magalhaes gained valuable research experience at the Institut Curie - Research Centre, where they worked as a Senior Research Associate from September 2010 to December 2016. During their time there, they focused on understanding the biology of antigen cross-presentation, antitumor immunity, and the regulation of inflammation through the sumoylation pathway. Joao also collaborated with three industrial partnerships in immuno-oncology.
Before joining the Institut Curie, Magalhaes completed their post-doctoral training at the University of Toronto from October 2006 to August 2010. Joao started their research career as a PHD student at the Institut Pasteur, where they worked under the direction of Pr. Philippe J. Sansonetti in the Unité de Pathogénie Microbienne Moléculaire. Joao completed their PHD from September 2002 to September 2006 and also underwent master training in the same unit from October 2001 to September 2002.
Joao G. Magalhaes pursued their Ph.D. degree in Immunology at Pierre and Marie Curie University from 2002 to 2006.
