The Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI) is a non-profit organization established in 1984 by a bipartisan, bicameral group of members of Congress to provide timely information and develop innovative policy solutions that set us on a cleaner, more secure and sustainable energy path. EESI accomplishes these objectives in three ways: Policymaker Education: Probably best known for our well-attended and highly respected Congressional briefings, EESI provides policymakers with trusted, balanced information on climate change science, energy technologies and policy options. Through fact sheets, policy papers, three highly acclaimed e-newsletters and more, we provide a wealth of relevant information in user-friendly formats, making it more likely that critical data is utilized in decision making. Networking & Coalition Building: EESI brings the perspectives and needs of a broad and diverse group of stakeholders to the attention of Members of Congress. We add value to the policy debate as a convener, framer, integrator, and synthesizer of issues, interests, ideas and solutions; EESI plays a leadership role in numerous coalitions. By sustaining these valuable relationships, we improve communication among stakeholders and between stakeholders and their representatives in Washington, providing an avenue for their participation in national policy development. Policy Development: Due to EESI's respected knowledge and experience, we are an effective catalyst in the policy development and implementation process. Whether creating jobs, improving national security, revitalizing rural economies, improving U.S. competitiveness, or reducing carbon emissions, EESI offers Congressional offices “win-win” policy options to shift the country toward clean sustainable energy while accomplishing their goals.
