Mark S. Brownstein serves as the Senior Vice President for the Energy Program at the Environmental Defense Fund, a position held since March 2006, where the focus is on mitigating climate and air impacts from the oil and gas sector. Previous roles at EDF include Vice President of the Climate & Energy Program and Associate Vice President & Chief Counsel for Energy, where efforts were concentrated on natural gas development and reducing methane pollution. Brownstein has expertise in shale gas development, carbon capture and storage, and energy market development. Prior experience includes serving as Director of Enterprise Strategic Planning and Director of Environmental Strategy & Policy at PSEG. Brownstein holds a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and a B.A. from Vassar College.
