Jordan Diamond

President at Environmental Law Institute

Jordan Diamond is the current President of the Environmental Law Institute. Prior to this, they served as the Executive Director of the Center for Law, Energy & the Environment at Berkeley Law from November 2014 to November 2021. In this role, they led a team of experts in climate, energy, land use, water, and oceans to develop and devise pragmatic, actionable environmental and energy policy solutions.

Diamond has been instrumental in launching several important initiatives during their time at Berkeley Law. In 2020, they helped launch GrizzlyCorps, which sends recent college graduates into rural communities across California to promote regenerative agri-food systems and fire and forest resilience. Additionally, they helped launch the California China Climate Institute in 2019 – a groundbreaking partnership co-chaired by former Governor Jerry Brown working to further climate action through joint action.

Before their time at Berkeley Law, Diamond served as a staff attorney and co-director of the Ocean Program at the Environmental Law Institute from September 2008 to October 2014. In this role, they worked on a variety of ocean-related legal issues, including marine spatial planning, fisheries management, and maritime security.
