Travis Hinkelman

Travis Hinkelman has a diverse work experience, primarily in the field of environmental science and data analysis. Travis is currently working as a Senior Data Scientist at Environmental Science Associates since July 2020. Prior to this, they worked at Cramer Fish Sciences for seven years starting from July 2013 until July 2020, where they held the role of Ecological Modeler. In this role, Travis built simulation models of salmonid behavior and population dynamics, developed Shiny applications for data and simulation model output, ran DSM2 HYDRO simulations, processed output, and visualized results. Before joining Cramer Fish Sciences, Travis was the Principal Statistician and Owner of their consulting business, Datavore Consulting, LLC. Travis started this venture in June 2012 and worked on small contracts before becoming a sub-contractor for Cramer Fish Sciences. Travis gained experience in the non-technical aspects of running a consulting business during this time.

Travis Hinkelman completed their secondary education at Bismarck High School between 1993 and 1996. Travis then pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Wildlife Biology at the University of Missouri-Columbia, which they completed in 2001. Subsequently, they obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Wildlife Biology from Clemson University in 2004. Finally, Travis Hinkelman completed their academic journey by obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Ecology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2012.
