Elias Ayrey (PhD)

Elias Ayrey (PhD) has a diverse work experience. In 2009, they were an Intern at NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration. From 2012 to 2013, they worked at Binghamton University as a Paleobotanical Laboratory Assistant, where they lead a project to understand the morphology of the world's first woody plants and established experimental measurement procedures. From 2013 to 2019, they were a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Maine, where they used deep learning to interpret 3D LiDAR point clouds and develop regional estimates of forest inventory metrics. From 2019 to 2022, they were the Head Scientist at Pachama, a company that fights climate change by helping preserve the world's forests. Currently, they are the Co-Founder and Head Scientist at Renoster, a company that uses remote sensing and artificial intelligence to publicly review and rate the world's carbon projects.

Elias Ayrey holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Forest Resources (Remote Sensing) from the University of Maine, which they obtained between 2015 and 2018. Prior to that, they earned a Master's Degree in Forest Resources (Remote Sensing) from the same university between 2013 and 2015. Elias completed their Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Binghamton University between 2008 and 2012.
