Alison Frohn

As an Algal Taxonomist at EnviroScience since 2021, Alison Frohn performs algal identification and enumeration for a variety of water and soil quality monitoring. She assists with river and stream assessments and other lab projects as needed.

Alison has over 11 years of experience as a freshwater ecologist and specializes in diatom taxonomy and water quality index development. Her experience includes private consultation as well as state government, academia, and nonprofit sectors.

Prior to joining the EnviroScience team, Alison worked as a Natural Resource Specialist for the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, where she coordinated statewide Harmful Algal Bloom monitoring in drinking and recreational waters. She also worked as Diatom Herbarium Collections Manager at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, where she assisted in developing the Level One Diatom Taxonomic Certification administered by the Society for Freshwater Science.

Alison has experience training and managing field crews for watershed assessment studies in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She holds a Master of Science in Biology from John Carroll University and a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Kent State University.
