Emmalisa Kennedy

Emmalisa Kennedy is part of EnviroScience’s Ecological Services division as a Wetland Ecologist. While earning her master’s degree in 2006-2007, Emmalisa served as a field technician for EnviroScience. As a Wetland Ecologist, Emmalisa assists in vegetation assessments (Vegetative Index of Biotic Integrity), wetland delineations, wetland restoration projects, and stream habitat evaluations. She earned her Professional Wetland Scientist certificate in 2019.

During her previous experience as an intern for the Botany department at the Cleveland Natural History Museum and a graduate of both Hiram College (B.A., 2003) and Kent State University (M.S. in Aquatic Ecology, 2008), Emmalisa is experienced in assessing Ohio’s local flora and aquatic resources. Her master’s work evaluated the decomposition of herbicided and non-herbicided Phragmites australis, a widespread invasive plant species. Control of invasive plant species and wetland restoration continues to be the main focus in her work and her volunteer efforts for a local park district.

In addition, Emmalisa has previous experience in writing NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act) compliance documents such as Environmental Assessment (EA) and Environmental Impact Statements (EISs). She has generated baseline water and waste surveys in support of EA action and has presented these results at a national sustainability conference.
