Envision Hospice was established in 2005 by six healthcare professionals who wanted to make a difference in their community.
We are currently looking for a Hospice Medical Director to join our team. The person in this role is responsible for overseeing the overall management of medical care for hospice patients, ensuring the delivery of services in alignment with the organization's philosophy and established standards. This role adheres to all applicable state, federal, and regulatory guidelines. The Medical Director plays a crucial role in ensuring high-quality care, compliance with regulations, and fostering a supportive environment for both patients and staff.

Essential Functions:
Demonstrates knowledge as a physician and maintains all clinical skills.
Has and gains specialized knowledge relative to palliative and hospice care.
Develops specialized skills in self and staff where appropriate.
Maintains professional involvement in the community and the profession at a significant relevant to the position.
Consults with attending physicians, if needed, regarding pain and symptom management for the Hospice patient.
Reviews and certifies patients’ medical eligibility for Hospice services.
Acts as primary physician for patients when:
Acts as a medical liaison with other physicians in the community.
Communicate with the team to ensure the Plan of Care is followed and changes are approved.
Approves team decisions requiring physician oversight.
Attends Interdisciplinary Team Meetings to discuss patient care.
May conduct Face-to-face attestation visits to ensure patients continue to meet eligibility requirements for each 60-day certification period.
Certifies terminal illness of patients through review of patient clinical data, face-to-face encounter documentation, and interdisciplinary team meeting discussions.
Adheres to Hospice Policies and Procedures. References manual when not familiar with policies and procedures.
Assists in a working environment that encourages collaboration and communication between all members of the interdisciplinary team.
Maintains a friendly yet professional demeanor when interacting with all staff members.
Respects the professional boundaries of communicating personal information with all staff members.
Utilizes effective communication skills, both verbal and nonverbal, with the staff as well as patients/families.
Performs job responsibilities with enthusiasm and a positive approach.
Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and supports the rights of staff members and patients to privacy.
Qualifications:
Education: Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy. Current license as a physician in the state of practice. The license has no encumbrance.
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification may be preferred depending on the setting. Presentation of Certificate of Insurance.
Experience: Experience in hospice or palliative care settings and a strong understanding of end-of-life care principles and practices are required.
Skills: Excellent clinical assessment skills, strong communication and interpersonal abilities, and a compassionate approach to patient and family care.
Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and other healthcare technologies.
