Lead Nurse Practitioner at Envision Healthcare

Heather McDonald has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry. Heather started their career as a Critical Care Registered Nurse at HCA, where they provided comprehensive patient care and was selected to serve on the employee advisory group. Following this, they worked as a Registered Nurse at Elements Behavioral Health, where they gained experience in various areas such as detoxification, chemical dependency, and eating disorders. Heather developed and implemented an education program for medical staff and improved patient satisfaction through on-call coverage. Heather then transitioned to the role of a Nurse Practitioner, working at Apogee Physicians and later EmCare. In these positions, they independently covered nights and managed care for patients in the ICU and other physician groups. Additionally, they served as a Clinical Instructor at Lipscomb University, where they educated nursing students and facilitated their learning in clinical and hospital settings. More recently, Heather joined Envision Healthcare as a Lead Nurse Practitioner, overseeing the nurse practitioner hospitalist service and implementing standards of care and clinical policies. Heather also provides support to nursing departments and works on process improvements to enhance patient flow. Recently, they have also started working as a Nurse Practitioner at Anion Healthcare. In their role, they continue to provide comprehensive care to patients.

Heather McDonald completed their education with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Lipscomb University from 2004 to 2008. Heather then attended Vanderbilt University from 2006 to 2008, where they obtained another Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Finally, they pursued a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a focus on Family Practice Nurse/Nursing at Tennessee State University from 2012 to 2014.
