Jay(SUNGJEA) KIM

Jay (SUNGJEA) KIM has a range of work experience in engineering roles. Jay(SUNGJEA) is currently working at EnWave Corporation as a System Engineer, EIT. Prior to this, they held the position of Junior Electrical Engineer at the same company.

Before joining EnWave Corporation, Jay worked as a CAD Operator (Co-op student) at Canadian Circuits Inc. in 2020.

From 2014 to 2017, they worked as an Electrical Engineer at Dongkuk Steel. In this role, they were responsible for various tasks including planning machine revamping schedules, modifying PLC and HMI programming, and managing a team of electricians. Jay(SUNGJEA) also participated in projects such as the BIC project and Rolling mill Revamping project.

Prior to Dongkuk Steel, Jay had an internship at POSCO in 2013. Here, they supported the FINEX Facilities Technical Team in reviewing electrical drawings and performing quality control checks for new AC drives and control lines. Jay(SUNGJEA) also assisted in organizing and preparing electrical schematics and single line diagrams.

Jay (Sungjea) Kim earned a Bachelor's degree in Physics and Electrical Engineering from Soongsil University, which they attended from 2008 to 2014. Following this, they pursued a Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology (specializing in Automation and Instrumentation) at the British Columbia Institute of Technology from 2019 to 2021. Jay has obtained various certifications throughout their education and career. In 2015, they completed the SIMATIC S7-300/400 PLC Training at Siemens and received theoretical and practical training on Spooler Line Automation and Electrical Maintenance from the Danieli Group. In 2017, they acquired theoretical and practical training for new main AC Drives for Rolling Mill from the same institution. Additionally, in 2019, they became a GradTech member of ASTTBC Technology Professionals. Jay achieved the Engineer In Training certification from Engineers and Geoscientists BC in January 2020. Lastly, in November 2021, they became a Professional Member of the International Society of Automation (ISA).
