Marshall Chapin earned a B.A. in Philosophy from Kenyon College in 1994. Marshall then went on to complete their MBA at the Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management from 1997 to 1999. In 2011, they obtained a certification as a Certified Energy Manager from AEE.
