Jessica Powell, M.S., is an experienced education and career services professional with a diverse background in teaching, marketing, and academic advising. Currently serving as an ELL Teacher at Epic Charter Schools since September 2020, Jessica has previously held roles such as Director of Career Services at Platt College-Moore and Learning and Development Writer at Love's Travel Stops. Notable experience also includes leadership positions at Primerica as a District Leader and at Innov8tive as Director of Marketing & Community Engagement, emphasizing skills in digital marketing and community outreach. Early career contributions include supporting veterans and low-income students as an Academic Specialist at Redlands Community College and Assistant Director of Upward Bound at Cameron University. Founded in 2011, Epic Charter Schools (Epic) is Oklahoma’s largest public virtual charter school – and among the largest of its kind in the U.S. – serving approximately 30,000 students from PreK-12th grade in all 77 counties statewide. Epic is dedicated to providing students and families with a learning environment that can meet an individual student’s unique needs. Epic Charter Schools is a FREE Pre-K-12 public school for parents/students seeking a non-traditional educational setting utilizing internet-based, individualized self-paced instruction provided in nearly any location. We believe that learning best occurs when: -Students are provided an opportunity to receive instruction in a manner that appeals to them and their family. -Within appropriate guidelines, the curriculum is self-paced to benefit the individual student. -The curriculum is accessible to students at a time that is best suited for his/her learning style. -One-to-one teaching is used as appropriate. -Real life context-based learning is emphasized. -There is supplemental enrichment through individualized instruction, independent study, field trips, apprenticeships, and appropriate uses of technology, etc. -The entire community serves as the school campus. -Interesting, worthwhile learning opportunities are provided that will stimulate the interests of each student
