Yiannis Michaelides

Yiannis Michaelides has extensive work experience in the telecommunications industry. Yiannis began their career as a Production Engineer intern at Volkswagen in 1999. Yiannis then interned as a Software Developer at Siemens AG in 2001 and at Electricity Authority Cyprus in 2002 as a Control Engineer. In 2003, they completed an internship as a Software Developer at IAV GmbH.

Yiannis joined MTN Cyprus in 2004 and held various roles within the company. Yiannis served as an Engineer in Value Added Services from 2004 to 2005, Manager in VAS & GPRS from 2005 to 2009, Senior Manager in VAS & GPRS from 2009 to 2009, and Senior Manager in Switching Networks & Services Planning from 2009 to 2012. During this time, they were responsible for planning, designing, and implementing core and access networks, as well as value-added services. Yiannis also led the mobile core and access networks swap and the introduction of new services.

In 2017, Yiannis joined epic Cyprus (ex-MTN Cyprus) as the Chief Technical and Information Officer. In this role, they managed the Technology Division, consisting of 80 professionals, and was responsible for network and IT CAPEX, OPEX, and strategy. Yiannis reported to the CEO and was a member of the EXCO.

Yiannis Michaelides completed their education in the following institutions:

- From 1990 to 1996, Yiannis attended Acropolis Gymnasium/Lyceum Nicosia Cyprus, where they earned an Apolyterion in the Science Branch.

- From 1998 to 2004, they attended Technische Universität Braunschweig, where they obtained an MEng / Dipl.-Ing. degree in Electrical Engineering / Information Technology.

- In 2010, they attended the University of Cyprus and completed their MBA degree in Masters of Business Administration.

Additionally, Yiannis has obtained several certifications, including PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and PADI Open Water Diver from PADI, and various Cisco and BlackBerry certifications. Yiannis has also been certified as a Red Hat Certified Technician.
